Most people think the first step to creating an online presence for their local business is building a website. While this can be an important step, the website building process can take quite awhile. In the meantime, there are a few profiles you can create quickly and easily.
One of the most important of these is your Facebook Business page. With over two billion monthly active users, this social network can help your business to reach just about anyone. Once your brand is ready to rock, launching a Facebook page should be one of the first things on your list.

What is the difference between a Facebook Group, Facebook Profile, and Facebook Page?
Profiles are personal accounts on Facebook. They feature a person’s photo and basic information. People use profiles to connect with family and friends, join Groups, and follow Pages. You can use your profile to share photos, links, and status updates with your network.
Groups are community spaces which can be joined by multiple Facebook users. They can be private or public, and generally focus on a topic of interest to the group members – for example, a family, a group of students taking a course, or support group may use a Facebook Group to host discussions, take polls, and share files.
Pages are designed for organizations, public figures, and businesses. People can follow the posts of a page by “liking” that page. They can also use visit a page to learn more about the organization, post reviews, or to message the page’s administrators.
In this guide, we will be focusing on creating and using a Facebook Page for business.
Step 1: Create a Personal Facebook Profile
To create a Facebook page, you first need to open a Facebook account. This allows Facebook to recognize you as the administrator of the Page.
If you’re new to Facebook, you can put as much or as little into your profile as you desire. However, there are some benefits to being personally active on the network – having a personal account can help you draw attention to your page with friends and family, and regular social media users tend to be better at using the network for marketing.!
Step 2: Click “Create Page”
Once you’re logged into your personal Facebook account, click the dropdown arrow in the top right corner and click “Create Page.”
Step 3: Fill in the Information. Make sure to double check everything!
Follow the prompts to fill in the text and images needed for your page. Facebook’s system will walk you through step-by-step!
What images should I use for my Facebook Page?
Unless you’re used to writing web copy or picking social media images, setting up your Facebook Business Page could prove to be a challenge. Let’s walk through it together.
A small version of your profile picture (the square on the left-hand side) will appear next to anything you post on Facebook. Consider this the “symbol” of your business – usually, a logo is best here. Independent professionals, such as Real Estate Agents, may choose to use a picture of themselves instead. Whatever you choose, make sure the image is clear, professional, and communicates what your business is.
Your banner image (the long picture at the top of your page) will be seen by those who actually visit your page itself. That means the people who see it will be interested in what you do enough to click to see more. Use this as an opportunity to share more about what you do and why people should connect with you. For example, we used a clean image and a few words about our service to give visitors a taste of our brand. You may choose to advertise a promotion or showcase an endearing image here.
